12.19.05 - Merry Christmas to all. The band has been busy in the studio recording songs for their second CD. Big things lie in store for 2006, including possible gigs in Australia and Russia. Stay tuned for a revamped website with new video clips as well!
09.18.05 - The band is gearing up for a busy fall, with some great new material to debut. Half the new record has already been written, and they'll be trying out the material at the launch party of a new internet magazine dedicated to NYC bands. 06.29.05 - The band had a fantastic sold out showcase at NXNE this month in Toronto. We can't wait to return to the Great White North for more fun and excitement. Thanks to everyone who showed up. Coming up in July are shows in Brooklyn, Yonkers, Newport, RI, and a 4 hour boat cruise around NY Harbor leaving from City Island. We've also been working up some great new material...
04.07.05 - The search for a drummer is over. We're happy to introduce Ryan Marsh as the newest Strine. Look for info on Ryan as well as the updated website in the very near future. Please be on hand to welcome Ryan in his debut at the Luna Lounge on Friday, April 22nd!
03.22.05 - Tons of news lately. First off, tickets are onsale now for the March 31st show at Knitting Factory. After that we'll be doing one last show at Luna Lounge before they close on April 22nd, followed by a gig up at Williams College on April 23rd. You can still pick up our CD at the Virgin Megastore, as well as iTunes and cdbaby. In other news, Chris McBurney has decided to leave the band for personal reasons. We all wish Chris the best. In the interim, filling in will be super-drummer Mike "Beans" Benigno. Say hello to Beans at an upcoming gig near you.
02.22.05 - We're excited to be heading to Kingston this Friday night at the Forum Lounge. After that we'll be returning to the Knitting Factory main stage on March 31st with our friends from North Carolina, the Pink Slips. Sadly, our gig at the Knit means we wont be able to play one last show at Luna Lounge. We're all sad to see the club go, and hope it opens up again soon in a great location. Coming up in April is a show at the Dewey Beach Pop Fest, in Delaware. More news on that to come shortly.
01.16.05 - We're back from vacation and off to a quick start. Our first trip up to Rhode Island is less than two weeks away, followed by a return to Luna Lounge on the 29th of January. We're also going to be making our first trip up to the Hudson Valley on February 25th at the Forum Lounge. Hope to see everyone at a show soon.
12.10.04 - Thanks for everyone who made the Knitting Factory show such a huge success. They've already asked us back for 2005. In other exciting news, our distribution deal with ROIR has been completed, and doggerel is now available at the Virgin Megastore in Union Square, New York. Pick up a copy today if you still need one. We also just received a fantastic review in the montly magazine Chronogram. Stay tuned for excited concert announcements for 2005.
11.15.04 - We're going out in style to wrap up the year. For our last show of 2004. On December 6th, we'll be headlining the Knitting Factory main stage. Tickets are available now at Ticketweb, with two great bands supporting us, Big Business and Swim. We'll be doing an extra long set, and dusting out some old faves, so be sure to make it.
10.04.04 - It's shaping up to be a busy fall. We'll be playing the Mercury Lounge on October 21st, with our good friends and fellow Aussies, The Harlequin. After that we'll be a featured artist in The Fall Collection, on November 10th at The Delancey. Finally, we'll be making our triumphant return to Boston on November 21st at the Middle East. The band is very excited for all these great shows.
08.24.04 - Couple of upcoming gigs, and more online availability. In addition to iTunes, PC users can now get our CD at MusicMatch. Our First Anniversary Party is this Friday night at Luna Lounge 10:30 pm. Then on Sept 10th, the Strines make their first visit to Boston, at O'Briens, in Allston. Spread the word!
07.27.04 - Lots of exciting news. Our CD Dog•ger•el is now availabe on iTunes. Download the Strines right to your iPod with no hassle. We've also got our first headlining slot at Mercury Lounge set for Thursday, August 12th at 10:30pm. Don't miss it! We'll be following that up two weeks later with our First Anniversary Party at Luna Lounge, on August 27th. See below for details.
07.06.04 - We're continuing to get radio play in Germany. OWL Radio in Hamburg has been playing cuts off dog•ger•el. Our CD is now also available at TowerRecords.com. For those of you in New York, we're playing this Saturday, July 10th at Kenny's Castaways. Details below in the gigs section.
06.15.04 - We're going to be featured on tonight's episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy! Our song "Better Off Alone" can be heard at some point in the show. We've also got a special gig coming up on June 19th at Continental. It's a benefit/tribute to the late Robert Pastorelli. Among the bands playing are the Turbo ACs, Robert Gordon, and Psycho the Clown. Also special surprise guests from the land of Hollywood.
05.25.04 - We're back from Germany, and had a fantastic time. Check out the tour diary HERE! The CD Release Party at Mercury Lounge was a smashing success, and the CD is finally available online. You can get your copy as well as preview the whole album at CD Baby. Stay tuned for iTunes availability in a few weeks.
04.29.04 - We're off to Germany, and we have a date for our U.S. CD Release Party! Join us at the Mercury Lounge on May 20th, 7:30pm with The Romantics ("What I Like About You"), The Chesterfield Kings and The Star Spangles. This is going to be an amazing show and sure to sell out. Everyone in attendance will get a FREE copy of the debut CD. dog•ger•el will also be available online starting May 20th. Details to follow. 04.04.04 - Lots of exciting news. Our new CD has a name, dog•ger•el, and is currently at the duplication house being replicated. Stay tuned for our upcoming CD release party at the Mercury Lounge in late May. The band is extremely excited to be leaving for our first European tour! The Strines will be rocking Germany and Austria from May 3rd to the 17th. Tour information at the bottom of this page. We're also delighted and honored to have the great bands Superglow, Fuzzy Casino and Uh Baby Uh supporting us.
03.17.04 - Happy St. Patrick's Day! Chuck Eddy of the Village Voice had this to say about our upcoming Mercury Lounge gig in today's paper: "Five local girls’n’boys with pasts in Australia/Philippines/karaoke/theater play nifty, pouty new wave hard-pop with a summery glam/Go Gos/John Cougar/No Doubt/ska undercurrent plus a Mott the Hoople cover. 03.03.04 - The record is finally finished! It's currently being mastered by Emily Lazar of The Lodge, (David Bowie, Lou Reed, Third Eye Blind), and should be ready in time for the Germany tour. Our next gig is March 18th, 7:30 pm at our favorite NYC venue, Mercury Lounge with hot new bands Loveless and Pela. This is a DON'T MISS show. See the gig section for details. Spread the word!
01.13.04 - Lots of exciting news to start off 2004. Final details are falling into place for our 2004 tour of Germany. Tentative dates are May 4-16th, with more details to follow. The album is nearly finished. The band has recorded 13 songs and will be selecting 12 for the album. Advance copies should be available at gigs starting in February.
